Lego Philosopher

This is the guy who I'm TA'ing for this semester. The St Paul Pioneer Press just did a story on him building Lego models of the Capitol Building and the St Paul Cathedral.

that's a cool story. does he mainly do buildings and portraits? or does he mix in a Naboo Fighter as well?

i'm not sure what all he does, but i know he does a lot of buildings. he's also really into comics, so he's done things like the Hall of Justice. i got to see that one at a comic show a few months ago - it was pretty cool. he had little modded super heroes and everything.

also - i'll move this up here since the final crisis one is almost off the page - i just read a bit of Crisis of Infinite Earths today at B&N.

i read the whole Countdown to Final Crisis and kind of liked it. i don't really know much about the DC multi-verse, and this seemed like an easy intro to a bunch of characters and concepts. the stories weren't great, but they were pretty decent. some threads were better than others.

the Crisis of Infinite Earths is pretty cool. i haven't read 80's comics in a long time, so it's a weird adjustment. i like the coloring a lot, but the story is a bit thick and confusing (as was the Countdown).

it looks like they have the Infinite Crisis book at B&N too, so i'll probably just read through all the stuff they have before hitting the Final Crisis. then i'll at least have a pretty good awareness of what's come before.

it's nice to be interested in something DC other than batman and superman. :)

COIE is a great classic story but a bit plodding by modern standards.
Infinite Crisis has some story flaws but I liked it quite a bit.
The best part about the first two crises is the Psycho Pirate. He Rules!
If you want to read some great DC, check out Justice Society. Basically anything Geoff Johns has written/ co-written on the series is outstanding. There are 10-12ish trades he's been involved with under the name "JSA." Then they rebooted the series with a new #1 as "Justice Society of America." He will leave the book in a few months with #26. All told there are probably 75-100 issues in his run.
Its all really good stuff and a lot touches on the multiverse - especially Earth-2. (and there are literally dozens of different members coming and going from the team which is a concept I just love)

oh, And speaking of convoluted stories with countless characters to keep track of, I've been dipping my toe into the world of the "Legion of Superheroes" lately.
I'm not sure how much deeper I want to go right now, but some of that stuff is really cool (and really involved and confusing to the noob)

It all seems like continuity run amok, but then I sort of dig that.
